Automatic calculations of various Load types
Automatic wind load generation
Wind load can be automatically generated for 3D structures according to the EN 1991-1-4 or other standards. Wind velocity can be given by the several integrated wind zone maps. If it is necessary internal pressure can be added automatically to the wind load.
Snow loads are also automatically calculated and the basic load cases are created (normal or exceptional cases). The loads are appearing with arrows on each surface/member. The combinations are created automatically according to EN 1990 as well. |
Fire effect and fire protection
Fire effect and fire protection can be set for steel members according to the EN 1991-1-2. There are three different fire curves: standard, external, and hydrocarbon. Various insulation materials can be used for protection such as board fiber, board gypsum, spray mineral fiber, spray Perlite, etc. If you use fire effect and protection on steel members ConSteel automatically determines the new elastic modulus and the temperature of the member.

Crane loads

Typical loads (dead and live loads)
Several load types are available such as point, line and surface load, temperature load for bar and surface, prescribed displacement, tension force, etc. With the help of the load transfer surfaces, surface loads can be placed on linear members also. Local eccentricity can be set for point and line load. The eccentricity can be defined to the section geometry and if the section of the member is changed the position of the placed loads is automatically updated according to the new section size.

Temperature loads, Prescribed displacements, change of length, tension forces (prestress)
Temperature loads can be defined to members or to surfaces.
Prescribed displacement can be applied for point supports as well. The change of the original member length can also be set and applied as a load on bar members with the "change in length function. With this function prestress effect can be modelled. |

Load cases and combinations
There are 9 different load group types in ConSteel: Permanent, Variable, Meteorological, Wind, Snow, Crane, Accidental, Accidental snow, Fire, Seismic. For each load group, safety and combination factors must be given. The combination factors can be edited manually or they can be selected from the Standard Values area of the Factors dialog box.
According to the actual structural design code, load combinations must be set by the load cases. They can be created either manually by setting the safety and combinations factors for each load case or automatically by using the "automatic load combination generation" function of ConSteel. |
