Design complex types of steel cross section and members (eurocode 3 & AISC)
ConSteel implemented an Intelligent Design Procedure (IDP) for the most efficient steel structural design. The IDP automatically identifies the proper design situation with all the necessary code check formulas and parameters based on the cross section, member and complete model results and design attributes. After the evaluation, at every point of the structural model a single dominant utilization value is selected from all of the combinations and necessary code checks giving a transparent and accurate view about the structural performance.
Steel design according to EuroCode
The ConSteel design procedure identifies the design attributes of the cross section (type, shape, loading, and class of the section) and the section components (type, stress distribution, class) and defines the section evaluation accordingly.
Section classification is automatically determined by taking each section components (flange, web etc...) into consideration. In the case of class 4 sections, ConSteel generates the effective section based on the overall normal stress distribution. |
Steel design according to AISC
Ultimate limit state design of steel structures can be performed according to the ANSI/AISC 360-10 standard’s LRFD method. Design procedure of ConSteel identifies the design situation and evaluates the members accordingly.

Stability design
Stability is one of the most important, but also most complicated, design situation, therefore ConSteel provides a multilevel solution method for the safe and economic results.
General stability method according to the EN 1993-1-1 6.3.4

Composite beam design
ConSteel is capable of single as well as continuous span composite beam design in accordance with EN 1994-1-1:2010 (Eurocode 4). Partial and full shear connection can be also designed.
Main features:

Composite column design
All the commonly used composite cross section types can be designed in ConSteel according to Eurocode 4:

Connections design
In the ConSteel design approach great emphasis is placed on integrated modeling and calculation of the global structure and its connections therefore a powerful joint analysis engine is developed as a separate module: csJoint.
A great range of different joint types can be easily be created applying several special connection elements. The design tools covers practically the whole joint standard Eurocode 3 Part 1-8. A joint can be defined alone or based on the global model by the automatic joint identification tool. A prepared joint can be placed on several parts of the global model to make the joint integral part of it. A placed joint is always rechecked automatically based on the current analysis results, and the connection stiffness is also updated modifying the global model consequently. |
Based on the refined analysis results, the required code checks of the steel members can be conveniently evaluated based on the following standards:

The following National Annexes (NA) are available for the European Standard:
